Scivex, Inc. (Scivex) is a leading manufacturer of micro and nano-scale fluidics componentry serving OEMs in the analytical and diagnostics instrumentation markets. Scivex’s products are used primarily in the drug discovery, DNA/genomics/proteomics research, forensic investigation, diagnostic fluidic systems and other high growth markets. Scivex’s products are mission critical in an instrument and allow the expensive, high-tech electronics part of the machine to operate at optimal levels. In addition to the OEM customer segment, Scivex serves the dealer and end-user customers, including independent testing and university laboratories, primarily for replacement parts. Many of the company’s products require frequent replacement, in some instances after one use. Scivex is pursuing a growth and acquisition strategy to offer “complete fluidics systems” to its OEM customers. By offering an end-to-end fluidics system that allows micro and nano-size fluidic samples to flow smoothly through the instruments, Scivex can provide a complete compatible fluidics system that allows the OEMs to focus their resources on their core competencies of developing next generation technology and leveraging its brand name through sales and marketing. Scivex’s customers will be able to resolve problems in their fluidics systems much earlier in the design phase of building their next generation analytical instruments. Currently, OEMs utilize numerous component suppliers and experience “stack-up” and compatibility problems. As a result, Scivex’s OEM customers are constantly faced with significant delays and additional research and development costs required to redesign and/or retrofit fluidics components that are not complementing other critical components in the fluidics system.
